Mr. Titus Chiwindo
Titus Chiwindo holds a Master degree in Public Health and BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology from University of Malawi, College of Medicine. He has 11 years’ experience which includes working in public health sector and for the Non-Governmental Organizations. His present role as Laboratory Manager includes providing laboratory technical and management support for the smooth implementation of Malawi Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (MPHIA) and other Covid-19 Sentinel surveys at ICAP, Malawi.
Titus also worked as Quality Assurance Advisor at Jhpiego, where he provided technical guidance for developing and implementing strategies for community based HIV testing including index testing, moonlight testing, outreach, and HIV self-testing, HIVST. He passionately ensured that community based HIV Diagnostic Assistants provided the highest quality services to the target population (men, adolescents, partners of FSWs) through mentorship and implementation of Quality Assurance program.
He spent 7 years working in public sector, including 6 years as District Laboratory Manager at Balaka District, where he improved blood transfusion practices, increased access to TB testing services, prenatal screening testing services (Hb, urine dipstick,) and developed Quality Management Systems.
He has served as MAMLS taskforce member (April 2020 to December 2020) where he played a significant role in registration of >400 MAMLS members, developing MAMLS leadership ToRs, review of MAMLS constitution, and organizing 2nd MAMLS Scientific Conference.
His interest is in HIV Implementation research and Leadership, and he believes that teamwork is very key for the growth of Medical Laboratory profession.
